The most Instagramable places in Exeter

Have you ever planned a trip according to pictures you have seen on Instagram? This is a sentence nobody would have ever said 10 or even 5 years ago right? And yet, the way we way travel has changed so much during the last decade that I sometime feel that social medias became our new travel guides. I must admit that many of my travel plans are based on pictures I have pinned from Instagram and especially when I am visiting less exposed places…like Exeter!

This is why I decided to create a little Instagram guide after my trip to Exeter. Exeter is a city you don’t see much on Instagram but some local instagramers like @kymgrimshaw does an amazing job featuring some of the best little spots of western England. So if you never considered a trip to Exeter, here is a few pictures that hopefully would make you change your mind!

Houses/streets/shops:

The house that moved: If you are into wonky houses and old British facades, don’t miss this one!

Book Cycle: Located right opposite of the house that moved, this little bookshop has everything you need to make the perfect Instagram picture!

Stepcote Hill: A beautiful hill leading to the House that moved. There are four beautiful houses with colourful doors on the way up. Always a winner!

Gandy Street: A lovely little alley located in the center that would be perfect on your feed.

Tea on the green: The facade is beautiful and the place is known to serve the best afternoon tea of the city so no need to hesitate a second!

No guts no glory: A beautiful mix of plants, trendy clothes and beautiful frames…exactly what makes the perfect interior shot!

March Coffee: Beautiful industrial interior and delicious cookies and mocha! Stay close to the windows to get the best light.

South Street Standard: They have a beautiful bar with tiles that your followers will totally fall in love with!

Devon Coffee: A little and cozy cafe that doesn’t get a lot of light so you might want to stay close to the window.

The plant cafe: Closed on Sunday so I didn’t get a chance to try it but the place looks really nice to take a nice foodie shot.

The Exploding Bakery Cafe: Once again, everything Instagram loves! Beautiful latte art and cozy interior.

While I was visiting Exeter I had the pleasure to stay in two different Mercure Hotels: Southgate and Rougemont Hotel. Both really gorgeous and located in very central areas of the city.
